Understanding the Foundations of Trauma and Attachment Day 1: July 15, 2017 9:00-4:00 Phase-Based Clinical Applications to Promote Healing and Integration of Trauma and Attachment Dysregulation Day 2: July 16, 2017 9:00 - 4:00
Core Training CTIP (Day 1) and CTIC (Days 1 & 2)
This comprehensive two-day training will provide insight into current trauma, attachment, and neuroscience research ensuring an understanding of critical information and best practice strategies for working with trauma. You will learn how trauma at different ages impacts patients a neurological, emotional and physiological level. This information will allow you to make connections to later life behaviours and health outcomes to create treatment plans that promote targeted integration.
This training will also help you to enhance your clinical skills and learn how you can add trauma regulation and attachment healing strategies to your repertoire.
Day 2 will focus on putting it into practice. Through this training participants will learn how to make historical connections, complete initial assessments, and formulate trauma-informed treatment planning.
Participants will learn about various phase-based treatments for complex trauma and will review best practice and evidence-based approaches through an experiential format.

Mindfulness, Neurofeedback, and Trauma Therapy Guest Speaker: Dr. Paul Frewen, Western University Hospital, Co-Author Healing the Traumatized Self Day 3: July 17, 2017 9:00 - 4:00
Description: In this full-day workshop you will be introduced to a neurophenomenological model for understanding PTSD, dissociative experiences and their treatment by experiential psychotherapy, meditation practices, and neurofeedback. Assessment approaches developed by the presenter will also be introduced, in particular the Childhood Attachment and Relational Trauma Screen (CARTS) and measures of Trauma-related Altered States of Consciousness (TRASC).
Healing the Wounds of Attachment Dysregulation in Adulthood Day 4 am: July 18, 9-12
This workshop will provide insight into how to assess adult attachment, strategies to increase awareness and treatment strategies to promote healing and compassion for self.
The impacts of our early life experiences are far reaching and serve as a powerful template for how we will perceive and relate to others late run life. This workshop will provide insight into how to assess adult attachment, how this may present at an emotional and behavioural level, and how to create meaningful change.
Through this training participants will gain an awareness of:
what attachment wounding looks like
assessment activities
strategies to increase awareness
treatment strategies to promote healing and compassion for self
*New - The Use of Self-Compassion and Emotional Nurturance to Enhance Therapy and Promote Awareness and Agency Day 4 pm: July 18, 1-4
This experiential workshop will teach participants how to safely and effectively integrate self-compassion and emotional nurturance work into their practice in a way that builds greater self-awareness, authenticity, and agency over emotions for themselves as the clinician as well as the clients they work with. The concept of building tolerance to hold positive affective states, overcoming shame and other challenges, and a review of our self- compassion art journalling group and individual program will be included.
*New - Working with Internet Child Exploitation: Unique Issues and Effective Treatment Interventions Day 5 am: July 19, 9-12
This workshop will provide insight into the the unique impacts of internet child exploitation. Learn what it is, how to increase education and prevention in your area, and how to work with those impacted by it. Assessment, effective treatment strategies, and support for families will be included in this training. Cases for this workshop will be child specific.
Strategies for Healing Trauma Following Domestic Violence Day 5 pm: July 19, 1-4
This workshop will provide an introduction to the impact trauma has following domestic violence inclusive of links to neurological findings regarding the impact of specific types of abuse on various parts of the brain. as well as strategies for grounding trauma, promoting safety, reframing and facilitating healing through increased authenticity. Strategies will be provided for various ages.
*New - Working with Human Trafficking: Unique Issues and Effective Treatment Interventions Day 6 am: July 20, 9-12 This workshop will provide insight into the the unique impacts of human trafficking. Learn what it is, how to increase education and prevention in your area, and how to work with those impacted by it. Assessment, effective treatment strategies, and support for families will be included in this training. Cases for this workshop will be adult specific.
Creative Journaling to Promote Integration, Authenticity, and Healing Day 6 pm: July 20, 1-4
This experiential workshop will provide insight into the powerful healing benefits of journaling, techniques for expression, empowerment, and disarming of protective screens and scripts no longer needed will also be provided. This workshop will speak to the neurological impact journaling has on promoting integration.
