If you are ready to take your trauma skills to the next level or are seeking effective interventions to add to your trauma practice this training is for you. All too often systems treat the smoke (symptoms) rather than the fire (underlying issues). ITATM treats the fire which then has a direct impact on the smoke.

The Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) ® is an embodied model for reprocessing and reappraisal of the central details of trauma memories using a neurosequential approach layering somatic release, bilateral stimulation, visualization, resourcing and reframing in an integrative and structured manner to regulate the body, brain and mind simultaneously. This rich approach layers integrative techniques of bilateral stimulation, sensory processing, mindfulness, breathwork, cognitive reframing, toning and vocalization, movement and somatic work, visualization, resource installation and parts integration work and has been used with great success in the treatment of complex trauma.

The Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® was created by Lori Gill, Founder and Clinical Director Attachment and Trauma Treatment Centre for Healing (ATTCH).

The Integrative Trauma Treatment Model (ITATM)® helps people to depotentiate trauma experiences and help people become embodied in a safe structured way. This training is open to coaches, counsellors and mental health professionals.

Therapists around the world are learning the efficacy and power of this treatment model - and one of the best features for clients is that they DON’T NEED TO TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED! We have actively been using this model at our 2 treatment centres (@ATTCH Niagara and @Lori_Gill_Psychotherapy) with great efficacy for treating complex trauma. It is a highly effective and accelerated treatment model for treating the underlying issues causing the pain, addiction, suicide ideation, high risk behaviour etc. Using the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® we observe statistically and clinically significant reductions in suicide ideation, tension reduction behaviours (self-harm, addictions, high risk behaviours), anger, depression, anxiety, and dissociation are observed with the use of our treatment approach. These are areas that often impact daily life skills, education, employment, the ability to remain regulated, maintaining safe housing, utilization of high risk and crisis services, etc.

Results from the program evaluation of our model completed by Victoria Dobson and Dr. Paul Frewen, Western University Hospital demonstrated clinically and statistically significant changes in these areas, often with observable reductions occurring in as few as 5-6 sessions! This is not to say everyone is fully recovered at the completion of treatment as we are working with complex trauma and as such there are no easy solutions. However these are outcomes that are very realistic of a complex trauma population and demonstrate that there is benefit to the treatment being offered.

Average reductions at the time of review in high risk areas were as follows:
Depression 9.61 reduction
Suicidality 10.20 reduction
Anger 9.98 reduction
Dissociation 8.71 reduction

These are areas that often impact daily life skills, the ability to remain regulated, maintain safe housing, utilization of high risk and crisis services etc. As such any reductions in these areas demonstrates a positive shift towards a more emotionally regulated state.

The fields of attachment and trauma research and intervention are growing rapidly. It is apparent that this is an area all clinicians can benefit from training in as it crosses all sectors and populations in some manner. However, we know that it can be difficult to keep up with all of the readings and resources. As this is our area of specialization, let us share what we have learned through our literature and research reviews and what we have effectively put into practice with you in an engaging and practical manner. This comprehensive two-day training will provide insight into current trauma, attachment, and neuroscience research ensuring an understanding of critical information and best practice strategies for working with trauma. This training will also help you to enhance your clinical skills and learn how you can add trauma regulation and attachment healing strategies to your repertoire.

Day 2 will focus on putting it into practice. Through this Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) participants will learn how to make historical connections, engage in integrative trauma-specific treatment approaches, and promote resiliency and wellness. Participants will learn about phase-based treatment of complex trauma and review of best practice and evidence-based approaches will also be experienced.

ITATM & CTIC Part 2 Trauma Processing Using the ITATM Protocol

How to generalize amygdala messages and reframing statements for future implementation

Day 1 Trauma Processing Experiential & Applied Practice Part 1

This workshop takes participants through the trauma processing practices introduced in the core training. This workshop takes participants through experiential of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) from start to finish and includes various techniques (from brief assessment, grounding, trauma processing, somatic discharging and shifting affect for completion of session in an emotionally regulated manner). Participants will experience various experiential activities inclusive of a live demonstration and the opportunity to practice techniques learned (as both the counsellor and the client) in a partner format with guidance from the facilitator. This experiential days allows for discussion, questions, and reflections from participants at a deeper level as it is facilitated in a small group format.

Days 2 & 3 Trauma Processing Experiential & Applied Practice Parts 2 & 3

This workshop takes participants through the trauma processing practices introduced in the core training. This workshop takes participants through experiential of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) from start to finish and includes various techniques (from brief assessment, grounding, trauma processing, somatic discharging and shifting affect for completion of session in an emotionally regulated manner). Participants will experience various experiential activities inclusive of a live demonstration and further opportunities to practice trauma processing (as both the counsellor and the client) in a partner format with guidance from the facilitator. All days will be rich with research, practical examples, case studies, experiential activities, and opportunities for self-reflection.

Advanced Training:

Group Consultations: 6 2-hour group consultations and applied practice for a minimum of 6 months is required before completing part 3. These consultations also apply to certification as a CTIP or CTIC.

Part 3

Days 1-3: Advanced Training & Applied Practice and Experiential of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model Adapted (ITATM) ®

This training will focus on working with preverbal trauma, attachment trauma, intergenerational transmission of trauma, parts work, and other aspects of complex trauma.

I've long been a critic of trauma-informed practice because there's usually little that's trauma-informed about it, i.e., patients would be admitted to the addictions facility with PTSD or BPD or CSA on the chart and little attention was paid to it that directed care, never mind a more integrated response.
