Sharing some information that may be helpful for clients and therapists in the midst of online and telephonic appointments, and breaks from therapy. Something that is important to note about grounding strategies is that they don’t have to be long. All we are doing is looking to shift the affective state that somebody is in, in that moment. Helping them to move from state of despair or overwhelm to a state of groundedness, peace, or empowerment. There are many simple ways that we can go bring this about. As indicated in my previous post this is going to typically be most effective if we make the strategy or technique that were using a sensory rich as possible.
